How is compatibility calculated?
We offer two methods: a quick comparison by sign and a synastry with birth charts.
By sign
The distance between two signs corresponds to an aspect: the same sign is a conjunction, four signs apart a trine, two apart a sextile, three apart a square, six apart an opposition. Trines and sextiles are the most harmonious, squares the most challenging.
Element and modality
Signs of the same element (fire, earth, air, water) understand each other naturally; fire and air, and earth and water feed each other. Signs of the same modality (cardinal, fixed, mutable) can make a strong but stubborn pair.
By birth chart
Both people's moment of birth is converted to universal time with the time zone found from the district, province and country, and the planetary positions are calculated.
Synastry aspects
Ten planet pairs are compared: Sun–Sun, Moon–Moon, Sun–Moon, Venus–Mars, Venus–Venus, Mercury–Mercury and Sun–Mercury. A conjunction scores +8, trine +7, sextile +5, square −5, opposition −3; a Venus–Mars opposition counts as positive because it creates attraction.
Compatibility percentage
The total is converted to a percentage and shown separately for emotional bond, attraction, communication and identity.
Orbs: 8° for conjunctions and oppositions, 7° for squares and trines, 5° for sextiles; 2° wider when the Sun or Moon is involved.
How should you read the result?
A high score shows a natural flow; a low score shows differences that need more effort. Challenging aspects aren't bad; they often feed growth and passion in a relationship.
Moon–Moon and Sun–Moon aspects describe emotional understanding, Venus–Mars aspects romantic attraction, and Mercury aspects how easily you understand each other.
Frequently asked questions
I don't know my birth time. What should I do?
Because the Moon moves about 13° a day, noon is used if the time is unknown; Moon aspects may shift a little, while other planets are barely affected.
Why do sign and birth chart compatibility differ?
Sign compatibility only looks at Sun signs. Synastry also includes the Moon, Venus, Mars and Mercury, so it's more personal and usually more accurate.
Is this only for love?
No. It also gives insight into friendships, business partnerships and family ties; Venus–Mars aspects matter most in romance.
